Today is the first day I have been able to sit down quietly and organise my things since I arrived in NYC. It was so hectic the last few days before I left that I really just shoved everything I vaguely wanted to take with me into a bag and decided that I would re- 'pack' when I arrived. I pulled out my journal and some photocopies fell out onto the floor, which clearly I had planned to paste into my journal at some stage. Sadly it was a reminder that I have just missed Alexander Mcqueen's recent exhibition in New York, Savage Beauty. A good friend of mine was lucky enough to see it a couple of months ago and raved about it. I really just intended to quickly paste these into my journal but as usual I got sidetracked. For some reason the first thing I noticed about these images is that the inside of the elbows, neck and tips of the mannequins fingers were a dirty red, and how haunting and beautiful that looked, I guess the rest grew from there. Now that I have done them I feel sad.
RIP ALEXANDER MCQUEEN
